Baby shower gift ideas?

Need some help on baby shower gift ideas for a baby boy!  I'm personally not much of a kid person so this is difficult for me.. I was thinking of going to TJ Maxx for some cute clothes... should I maybe getting older sizes since a lot of people will get newborn? Also thinking of putting in a few gift cards like target, etc.. I'd like to do maybe a large basket full of different things...but obviously not spend a fortune (it can look like it though wink). I know some of yall are great with creative things so I'd love some feedback!! I'm definitely going to spend some time searching pintrest as well lol

  • Diapers!  Wipes! Diapers!  Wipes! Diapers!  Different sizes, different brands...you can get some great deals on diapers and I guarantee that every mom in the house will shout a hallelujah for the amazing and most needed gift given. I'm not very creative on how to give it, but you could "wrap" it with a baby blanket. I received diapers and wipes at both my showers and I wish I had received 10 times the amount!!!!!

  • Clothes are good but from my experience alot of people buy clothes.
I would check their registry to see.

Also good items are diapers as stated sbove, wipes, burp cloths, onesies, blankets, little things like a bottle brush, pacifiers, bottles, little rattle toys, snack holders. Sometimes i just like to walk the aisles of the baby section at target looking for cute stuff.

I hope this gives you some ideas.

  • I go with items for past six months. Sippy cups plates toothbrush books etc if you buy clothes buy larger than six months. If a girl baby a cute little pair of sandals usually gets oooohs and aaasahs.

here is a link to an old thread where I posted pics of a Diaper "Cake" that I made.

Easy to do...many youtube videos tutorials, fun & eye catching, creative, & mommies love getting all those diapers!

basically, rolled up diapers secured with clear rubber bands, ribbon around them...stacked up into tiers with a rod (dowel) thru the middle for structure. Top it off with whatever...even a baby bottle filled with small baby goodies such as hairbands, socks, small hand sanitizer, or chocolate for mommy!

  • Love the diaper cake- I'm just not crafty enough to try that. The last 2 showers I went to I gave a gift certificate to a local photographer for baby pics. The mommies seemed to appreciate it.

I don't know anyone who would use that many cloth diapers. Still, I guess it can be done with disposables and you could probably use three sizes as well. Think I would get a toy for the top, like a train or plane. If using train, I would look for striped ribbons to simulate the train tracks or just use markers to make it. You could even wind the ribbon to make it look like it was ascending to the top engine.

if you were referring to the pic...those are all disposable wink.
I like the striped ribbon/train track idea! Very clever !!
I know you cannot see the side/back view but it does have baby socks, pacifier etc attached in various places

  • Moms say they most appreciate practical lifesavers and things with sentimental value. Read more about best baby gifts here: http://motherhow.com/15-best-baby-shower-gifts-what-to-give-for-a-mother-to-be/

  • You can ask your friend if you can bring desserts fro everyone as a baby shower gift. I did threw a baby shower party for my friend and got the desserts from wholesale cheesecake suppliers since desserts were needed in abundance. It was kind of a gift from me. If not then you can also refer to babycentre.com or babygearlab.com. These will give you nice ideas for gifts.

I feel your pain since I am not a kid person either. My go to Baby Gift is a Mega First Aid Kit. not just the one you can buy at the store, I take a plastic container and add all those things that they might need if baby gets sick in the middle of the night. baby Tylenol, baby advil, thermometer, one of those snot sucker things I have had several new moms tell me that it was a lifesaver. Plus you can use coupons to buy most of it.
