I'm seriously considering buying a Foodsaver vacuum sealer. Does anyone have one? Do you use it as much as you thought you would?
This is the one I Like http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-373466/foodsaver-v3840-vacuum-packaging-system.jsp , but of course I have to wait for a DEAL (30% off, +Kohs cash, +10/30..etc..etc)
I may end up waiting til Black Friday?

I have one but mine's an older model. Honestly, I used it for a couple of weeks then just forgot about it. And I don't like clutter on my kitchen counter, so I keep it in one of the closets, it's been there for a while. I guess I just don't have enough time to portion and seal my left over food. But it does work great, no freezer burns, left over food tastes fresh after a day or two.
Here's a thread from two years ago:

I'm totally jealous, Lorig! I hope to own one (paying a lot less, like you) one day!
you are gonna
it! Love mine & have not been disappointed at all. About the bags: you can wash the bags in the diswasher (top shelf) according to the website. I re-use mine quite often ! Target & Walmart often have peelies on the rolls of bags (I prefer rolls & cut to the size I need). A couple years ago, Target came out with a printable B1G1 TQ! I stocked up big time!
You sold me on them a long time ago. I just have not been able to find an amazing deal so I've been holding out!
I've had one for a few years now and use it mostly for meats. I've had very good results using the ziploc brand vacuum bags as a substitute for the original food saver bags. You just have to position the bags carefully for the seal to be good. I also stocked up on those bags a while back.
Tampa
yes..I have used the ziplok brand also but had mixed results. I found that I need to whack off the suction hole (ziplok brand), before I put into the food saver machine or else it tends to leak (like you said...position the bags carefully)
Will do...when I get one!
Took DH shopping today..we got two packs of Food Saver vacuum rolls

Each used 10/30 (newspaper sticky coupon) and a 10/30 staples coupon plus a 15% off
= 9.99 per box

that was a great deal you got! Hope you enjoy your foodsaver !
I will often remove products from their bulky packaging (such as boxed frozen garlic bread (Texas toast etc) & stick them in a food saver bag along with the instructions (I cut off that part of the box & stick it inside my bag), then vacuum seal & voila! Takes 1/2 the space those silly boxes utilize.
